Bruiser

Picked Keagan up from daycare yesterday - and got one of those lovely "accident" reports. It seems my darling son and another boy decided they both wanted the same toy car.

The other kid decided to use his fingernails on my son's cute little face.

This better not leave a scar!

I'm A Big Kid Now!

We've hit a major milestone in the Brown household. Last night, Keagan went to bed in his big boy underwear and stayed dry all night! So, despite Mommy's worst fears, it looks like he WILL be potty-trained before he heads off to school.

I think there's a reward in store for my big boy.

How Do YOU Avoid Bedtime?

This is how Keagan does it.

Could It Possibly Be

We may have turned a corner on this potty training thing.
A co-worker has twin 3-year-old sons. 1 potty-trained very easily, the other - not so much. So he told me that one time the reluctant son wet his pants - so he marched him into the shower and sprayed him off with water that gradually got colder. He said the boy hadn't had an accident in the week since he did it.

I decided to try it on Keagan. Keagan had never had a shower before - so I didn't even have to use cold water - because the whole shower thing freaked him out (see previous post). But it must have worked. I gave him a shower twice, making sure to tell him that he needed to take a shower if he has an accident. Well - he's gone 2 whole days without having an accident in his underwear.

He's only wearing pull-ups at night (and even then he cries that he doesn't want to wear them anymore).

Now Mommy has to be brave enough to actually take him out in public without a diaper. He might be ready - not sure if I am.

Showers

Keagan needed a bath tonight - but I didn't feel like sitting in there as he splashed me with water. I decided - let's try the shower. The high-pitched screams, crocodile tears and terrified shaking leads me to believe he's not a big fan.

Dentist!

Keagan had his first dental appointment today. The dentist office was awesome - with a surf shack in the waiting room and surfboards and a beach scene in the exam area. Despite Mommy's fears he would scream the entire way through it, Keagan was a champ.

He let the dental assistant brush and floss his teeth - then let the dentist brush his teeth and paint on a fluoride protection thing.

Of course - it didn't hurt that the assistant bribed him with suckers at the beginning of the appointment. It went amazingly well - and we'll head back in 6 months.

That wasn't quite soon enough for Keagan. He informed me on the way home from daycare that he wanted to go to the dentist RIGHT NOW!

He's also very interested in brushing his teeth (but mostly to suck the new toothpaste off his new toothbrush).

We'll see how long his dental appreciation actually lasts.

My New Backpack

I love my new Elmo backpack. I insist on wearing it all the time now, even when I'm just watching tv. Too bad the zipper already broke.

"Soccer" Practice

My second week of soccer lessons. I was very excited about the IDEA of soccer practice... not so excited about the whole "listen to your coach" concept.

This will confuse my opponents just enough to allow my teammates to score.

It's also fun to just hang off the plexi-glass. I practiced that a lot today. (The other boy ignoring the coach is my friend, Sammy, from daycare.)
